It speaks volumes that in a year featuring films like a Lord of the Rings derivative (the Hobbit), a Ridley Scott Alien ‘prequel’ (Prometheus), two Abraham Lincoln films (including one by Steven Spielberg), the next Bond installment, The Avengers and The Bourne Legacy, what beats all these offerings hands down (if it was the only film released this year it would be worth it) is The Dark Knight Rises.
